The final instalment to the popular "Shudhu Prem" and "Tobu Prem" series, Hay Prem is a collection of 25 heart-rending love stories from the mighty pen of the Late Suchitra Bhattacharya.
Suchitra Bhattacharya is an Indian Bengali writer who emerged in the late 20th century. Suchitra Bhattacharya's books have captivated readers by depicting the tensions, changing values and moral decadence of contemporary middle-class urban life. Along with that, the sufferings and feelings of women's life were also another theme of Suchitra Bhattacharya's book. Suchitra Bhattacharya was born on 10 January 1950 at Mamarbari in Bhagalpur, Bihar. Although the writer's father's house was in Baharampur of Murshidabad district.
But the whole of the writer's school and college life was spent in the city of Kolkata. He graduated from Yogamayadevi College, Kolkata. Then went to Calcutta University for higher education. He got married while studying at Calcutta University. First in his career, he worked in various places and settled in the government job. But in 2004, he resigned from the job to concentrate fully on writing.
Suchitra Bhattacharya has written numerous short stories and twenty-four novels in her literary career of nearly three and a half decades. She has created female detective characters like 'Mitin Masi' in Bengali literature which are equally popular with the readers even today. He mainly entered literature with the short stories of Suchitra Bhattacharya.
But his novels took him to another height as a writer. Notable among these are Near People, Dahan, Glass Wall, Hemant's Bird, Blue Whirlwind, Illusory Happiness, Deep Unhappiness, Flying Clouds, Torn Wire, Alochaya, Another Spring, Parbas, No Escape, I am Raikishori etc. Based on Suchitra Bhattacharya's novel 'Dahan', filmmaker Rituparna Ghosh produced a film of the same name in 1997. Also, several popular films like 'Ichche', 'Ramdhanu', 'Oleek Sukh', 'Anya Basant' have been made based on the author's novel.
For her contribution to literature, this Bengali woman writer has received many awards such as Calcutta University's Bhubanmohini Medal (2004), Katha Award (1997), Tarashankar Award (2000), Dwijendralal Award (2001), Sarat Award, Bharat Nirman Award, Sahitya Setu Award, Shailjanand Smriti Award. Awarded. Throughout his life, he continued to write at Dhakuria's house in Kolkata. Suchitra Bhattacharya died there on May 12, 2015 due to a heart attack.
